2020 Vivier Rosé of Pinot Noir

About this wine

WINEMAKING NOTES: Our rosé grapes come from three Pinot Noir vineyards in the Petaluma Gap region of the Sonoma Coast AVA and Sonoma Mountain: Flocchini, Gap’s Crown and Van der Kamp Vineyards. The grapes are harvested at night for maximum freshness and are sorted in both the vineyards and at the winery. After contact with the Pinot Noir skin ~ 45 to 120 minutes ~ determines ideal color and extraction, the juice is moved to a stainless-steel tank to settle and age. The 2020 vintage has a light salmon color and retains freshness and vibrancy. This wine is made using saignée, which is traditional in Burgundy for rosé. TASTING NOTES: The 2020 Vivier Rosé of Pinot Noir is spicy, mineral, showing intense jasmine, and just ripe apricot aromas on the nose. The palate is so fresh and bright with mineral notes of crushed rocks and oysters shell with apricot flavors returning. The precision on the finish is striking and leads to a long finish and hips of fun to come. This wine has graced the tables of MOMA SF, Mustards, Insitu, and the Meadowood Spa – but it’s just as good in your own backyard for a sunny lunch, alfresco dinner or an apéritif anytime. PERFECT WITH: Galette au Chévre et aux Tomates, Bouillabaisse, Pissaladière, Baked Camembert with fresh figs and honey, Chicken salad sandwich and potato chips, Cobb Salad, Lobster roll with grilled corn on the cob, Shrimp and grits. THE LABEL: The label depicts a famed 1906 balloon race over the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. Picnickers gathered in the garden and diners filled the neighborhood terraces, eager to watch the launch of this inaugural overseas race. It’s a perfect moment of joy and anticipation - exactly how you should feel when you enjoy a fine rosé.
