By Gros Ventre Cellars

2019 marks the 4th vintage of this wine and we think it is our best to date. It balances the elegance and spice of the 2017, with the boldness and purity of fruit of 2018, resulting in a wine of pure drinking pleasure. We bumped up the Gamay percentage to 57%, which gives it a little more lift on the nose and crunchiness to the palate. The nose shows off ripe cherries, rose petals, black tea and red velvet cake. The palate is a perfect balance of red fruits, dried goji berries, marjoram and lavender. It’s ideal for casual drinking, yet carries similar elements to our Pinots... supple, generous, and delicious red fruit flavors coupled with lively acidity and high toned Gamay notes. As far as we know, we're the only California producer of a Passetoutgrains styled wine.

Owners and Winemakers

Founded by Sarah and Chris Pittenger in 2009, Gros Ventre Cellars is a small, family-owned winery operating out of Healdsburg, CA. We produce about 2,000 cases of wine, including vineyard-designated Pinot noir from the West Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, and several wines from the El Dorado region. We focus on Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir for our red and rosé wines. Our whites include Chenin Blanc and Vermentino offerings along with a white blend of eclectic varietals including Fiano, Arneis, Picpoul Blanc, and Grenache Blanc.
