Babbling Brook Rose

About this wine

Background: This wine is affectionately named for the winemakers chatty, Rosé loving wife Brooke. In keeping with the fish theme, the winery designed a label with a stylized “Brook Trout” front and center. Vineyard: On the hilly 6,000-acre Alder Springs Ranch in far northern Mendocino County, Stuart Bewley has been growing some of California's most outstanding wine grapes since 1993. He practices his patented brand of extremist viticulture on a patchwork of vineyards perched along the steep sandstone slopes of the Coast Range. The mountainous ranch is a decidedly challenging spot to cultivate grapes, but the results have been superb. Winemaking: The handpicked Pinot Noir fruit was harvested early while sugars were low and acid high. The fruit was sorted, gently crushed and left to soak on its skins in the press for 30 minutes to infuse color into the juice before the pressing began. The pale juice was cold settled overnight, racked off the solids and fermented at a cool temperature in a neutral French oak Puncheon. The wine went through partial Malolactic fermentation before being bottled in late January 2020. Ageing: Tasting Notes: The 2020 Babbling Brook Rosé of Pinot Noir was fermented and aged sur-lie in a neutral French Oak Puncheons giving the wine a slippery texture. The color is a pale and pinkish copper with a nose bursting of spring white flowers. The palate is clean and crisp with flavors of white nectarine, peach, and stone. This dry and fruity wine will surprise you with its finesse and racy acidity. Enjoy our Rosé slightly under cellar temperature for maximum complexity, or chilled on a hot summer day!

Meet the Winemaker

Casey Stringer

Stringer Cellars

Casey Stringer was a high schooler from Wisconsin traveling to California with his parents to visit colleges in the Bay area. Due to an unfortunate passing of a distant relative who they had planned to visit during the trip, they had a gap in their schedule. They decided to head to the Napa Valley, a place that they had all certainly heard about, but knew little about. He and his father Chip were taken with Napa’s laid-back lifestyle, vineyard filled landscapes and the wines. Casey knew then that his path in life will be with wine. Back at home in Wisconsin with those memories still fresh, Casey picked up a job at a local wine shop to begin learning all he could while Chip began collecting wines both from Napa and around the world.
