About this wine
Winemaker Notes: With early fall rain looming, grapes were harvested on October 11 at 24.0 brix. We harvested all varietals of the old block of Puccioni Ranch together, cofermenting zinfandel and petite sirah, (and a few other varietals including palomino, carignane and alicante) together. A limited cold soak and pressing at 0.5 brix allowed us to develop a lighter zinfandel from this 116 year old vineyard. Once dry, the wine was pressed and aged for 18 months in new American (15%), new French (15%) and neutral French (70%) barrels. Tasting Notes: This elegant, claret-style zinfandel brings aromas and flavors of fresh cherry, strawberry, blueberry and freshly baked pie. The wine brings a balance of rusticity and elegance with a long flavor and well developed mouthfeel. The balance of fruit, acid and tannin should allow this wine to age well into the post-covid years.
