Read Holland Wines

Santa Rosa, CA

The beauty of a small project like Read Holland is that we get to cherry pick the best sites. ⁣ ⁣ We do not have sales goals, marketing agendas, or wine lots that need to be blended into the background. ⁣ ⁣ We are able to align our ethos with our sites and growers. ⁣ ⁣ Ethos: Organically farming historical grape sites that are distinctive, while enjoying the group effort of creating something special. ⁣ ⁣ Our vineyards range in age from 17 - 50 years old. ⁣ ⁣ The people we work with are truly small scale farmers. ⁣ ⁣ So much thought, intention, and love goes into the process of creating these wines. ⁣ ⁣ Read Holland : Made with ❤️

Meet the Winemaker

Ashley Holland

Winemaker/Co-Owner

A serendipitous road brought Ashley to winemaking. Originally from Oklahoma, she grew up riding horses and hoped to become an equine veterinarian. While studying animal science, she took a class called “International Beverage Education,” as an elective. After a couple of classes focused in wine, she quickly realized that the science from studying to become a veterinarian, applied to winemaking as well.

Winemaking embodied a creative essence that she did not find in animal science.

Ashley took off to NZ and stayed for a few years working as the Production Winemaker for Two Rivers of Marlborough. The lure of working with the team at Three Sticks, under the leadership of Bob Cabral, brought her home in 2015 where she worked as Associate Winemaker for Three Sticks through 2018.

Ashley's thoughts on Read Holland:
As I distill down what the Read Holland Wines are about it is basically this...we want the wine to be drinkable more than showable. To truly evolve in glass, and be able to stand alone or alongside the meal and not drown all else out.
